It is told in Mahabharata that on this day Durvasa Rishi gave Akshaya Patra to Draupadi.
It is said in the Mahabharata that when the Pandavas had to live in the forest for 13 years, one day during their exile, Durvasa Rishi came to their hut. In such a situation, all the Pandavas and Draupadi welcomed them with whatever was kept in the house.
Durvasa was very pleased with this hospitality of sage Draupadi.
After which he pleased and gifted Akshay Patra to Draupadi.
Along with this, Durvasa Rishi also said that this two person will worship Lord Vishnu ji with devotion and give charity to the poor, he will get the renewable fruit.
Therefore, on this day Lord Vishnu is offered barley or wheat sattu, cucumber and gram dal in Naivedya. This time, worship Lord Vishnu only while staying at home in the corona virus lockdown.
